Overview
An established manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior EHSS Engineer to lead a multi-year safety improvement initiative. This senior individual-contributor role reports to the EHSS Manager and will play a key part in strengthening safety culture, compliance, and operational excellence across a fast-paced industrial environment.
What you'll do
- Lead a multi-year safety improvement plan across multiple locations
- Own EHSS programs from development through full implementation
- Serve as a visible safety culture change agent, influencing employees and leaders at all levels
- Manage compliance, permitting, and regulatory reporting responsibilities
- Develop and maintain policies and training programs
- Conduct audits, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions, tracking each to completion
- Track and report EHSS metrics and provide regulatory support across multiple sites
- Support growth into future EHSS Manager responsibilities or serve as a fill-in when needed
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or another technical field
- Seven or more years of relevant EHSS experience
- Working knowledge of OSHA and industrial hygiene requirements
- Demonstrated success developing and implementing safety improvement programs that produce sustainable behavior and performance changes
- Proven ability to act as a safety culture change agent, positively influencing employees and leaders without relying solely on policing or enforcement
- Experience with audits, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and tracking actions through completion
- Strong critical thinking, organizational, written and verbal communication skills, professional judgment, and ability to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred qualifications
- EHSS experience in a manufacturing or similarly fast-paced industrial environment preferred
- Experience with environmental regulations and permitting procedures preferred
- Industrial Class K Wastewater License and Certified Landfill Operator license, or ability to obtain them, preferred
- Master's degree in a relevant field is a plus
