Overview

An established automotive manufacturing plant in the Holland, MI area is looking for a Quality Engineer to strengthen its quality systems and ensure products consistently meet customer requirements. This role is central to maintaining compliance, resolving quality concerns, and supporting continuous improvement across the plant.

What you'll do

  • Apply core AIAG quality tools (Control Plan, PFMEA, PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC) to resolve quality issues
  • Lead investigations into customer complaints and serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality matters
  • Manage internal and external quality concerns, including Fast Track Response and pareto analysis of defects
  • Create and maintain approved PPAP status with all customers
  • Review and decide disposition of held product, and organize necessary rework or sorting operations
  • Support continuous improvement efforts such as SPC and capability studies
  • Assist with IATF 16949 program activities and interface with customer quality systems
  • Address supplier quality issues and manage the quality hold area, including supervision of vendor quality control and measuring equipment certification
  • Create, review, and update job books to document standards and customer product specifications
  • Apply structured problem-solving methods such as 8D and 5Why to resolve internal and external issues and implement corrective actions
  • Randomly audit problematic jobs, partnering with Manufacturing Team Leaders and Managers to drive improvement
  • Perform audits supporting overall plant function
  • Follow and enforce compliance with company safety rules and regulations

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA)
  • Recent experience in the Automotive Industry
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 Quality Systems
  • Experience with the APQP system
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Proven technical skills on product and process
  • Experience with program launch at an automotive manufacturing plant
