Overview
An established manufacturer of industrial thermal and environmental technologies is seeking a Mechanical Applications Engineer to join its technical sales team. This direct-hire role blends hands-on mechanical engineering with client-facing consulting, serving as the technical bridge between global industrial clients, field sales teams, and the manufacturing floor.
What you'll do
- Lead 20–25 daily technical client consultations via phone, email, and virtual meetings, acting as the primary engineering authority for application challenges
- Apply thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and structural engineering principles to specify custom thermal and fluid system packages tailored to client needs
- Use automated software tools to rapidly generate accurate commercial quotes, system proposals, and ROI payback models
- Analyze customer blueprints, specifications, and operational data to deliver value-engineered design modifications to internal sales reps and end users
- Collaborate with production and manufacturing engineers to ensure quoted custom assemblies align with plant lead times and fabrication limits
- Present detailed technical specifications and compliance data to client plant managers and engineering executives to advance project approvals
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or closely related four-year engineering field
- 5+ years of practical mechanical engineering experience
- 2+ years of direct technical inside sales, proposal writing, or applications engineering experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage high consultation volumes (20–25 daily client touchpoints) in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear financial and operational benefits
- Progressive professional record showing career commitment, accountability, and multi-year tenure with past employers
- US Citizen or Green Card holder
- Residence within a 45-minute daily commute of the Washington County, WI area
Preferred qualifications
- Practical background in industrial heat exchangers, combustion systems, commercial HVAC networks, or fluid handling equipment
- Direct experience using Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) software platforms or automated engineering configurators
- Experience calculating energy consumption savings and financial payback cycles for industrial capital equipment
Compensation and benefits
