IT Infrastructure Manager – Enterprise Server

Overview

An established manufacturing organization is seeking an IT Infrastructure Manager to oversee its enterprise server and networking environment. This role is responsible for keeping critical systems secure, reliable, and running smoothly, while researching and implementing new technologies that support ongoing business needs.

What you'll do

  • Administer and maintain systems and networking support for software, hardware, servers, and networking, including testing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving issues
  • Apply best-in-class security protocols to protect existing and new server and networking systems
  • Perform systems administration for Windows AD infrastructure, Office 365, software updates and patches, anti-virus, local company systems, communication systems, cloud-hosted systems, and backups
  • Perform network administration for Cisco-based switches, routers, wireless access points, and firewall appliances
  • Prepare and maintain written documentation of server, networking, and application environments for disaster recovery
  • Collaborate with senior systems and network administrators, helpdesk personnel, and company users on current and prospective system changes
  • Maintain and reliably operate virtual servers and virtualization environments
  • Install and upgrade server and networking components and software, integrating automation to improve workflows
  • Troubleshoot server and networking hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, and prioritizing issues
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing infrastructure upgrades
  • Assess current and future capacity, storage, and database performance of server and networking systems
  • Provide timely communication and resolution of project updates and issues escalated from the helpdesk
  • Improve business unit synergies through technology systems integration
  • Enhance and support compatibility between existing server and networking systems
  • Conduct regular audits of local and cloud-hosted system access privileges
  • Automate repetitive systems and networking administration tasks
  • Assist in implementing authentication measures to increase security while enabling SSO environments
  • Maintain regular attendance and perform other assigned duties per supervisor instructions
  • Communicate effectively across departments and function within a team environment

Required qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience with Cisco-based routing, switching, wireless networks, IP, advanced protocols, and LAN/WAN administration
  • Experience with Microsoft Server OS versions, from Windows Server 2016 to most recent, Active Directory, O365/MS Exchange, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, and RAID hardware configurations
  • Experience with desktop/laptop operating systems such as Windows 10 and Windows 11 for testing server and network change impacts
  • Experience monitoring and tuning server and network systems for optimum performance
  • Experience with VMware 8 or other virtualization systems, including implementation, configuration, and management of virtual servers
  • Experience with enterprise-level anti-virus, endpoint security, and/or next-generation security software
  • Experience implementing, managing, and supporting enterprise-level on-premises IP telephony systems
  • Experience with major and minor server and network hardware installations and upgrades
  • Knowledge of IT operations best practices, including security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to work with a diverse staff
  • Excellent verbal, phone, and written etiquette
  • Ability to follow instructions, work under supervision, and multi-task across projects
  • Reliable with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to lift, move, and inspect IT equipment up to 25 pounds
  • Capable of sitting for prolonged periods at a computer screen
  • Ability to work in standard office conditions and travel within the building, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) areas, to resolve issues
  • Expertise in cost analysis and control for systems in use or under consideration
  • Proven experience deploying new systems from concept to completion in a production environment
  • Associate degree in Computer Science (BS preferred) and/or equivalent technical certification, with 3 to 5 years of proven system and network administrator experience

Preferred qualifications

  • Industry-recognized technical server-based certification such as Microsoft MCSE, Azure Administrator Associate, VMware Certified Professional, Network+, Server+, or A+ preferred but not required
  • Industry-recognized technical networking-based certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or CCNP preferred but not required
