Overview

A century-old, family-owned personal care products manufacturer is creating a new Facilities Manager role to take full ownership of facility systems and infrastructure at a large, automated production campus in the Bedford Park, IL area. The operation produces shampoo, lotion, conditioner, and a broad range of personal care products at scale, and the company is looking for a candidate with a manufacturing background who understands how large industrial facilities operate from the inside.

What you'll do

  • Oversee all facility functions including HVAC, boilers, stationary engineering, building maintenance, and related systems
  • Manage on-site contractors across multiple trades including electrical and civil work, ensuring all projects meet facility standards, timelines, and safety requirements
  • Manage on-site wastewater treatment systems and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance
  • Develop and oversee capital project budgets, scopes, and schedules for infrastructure upgrades and facility improvements
  • Ensure adherence to applicable codes, OSHA requirements, and safety standards throughout the facility
  • Identify facility improvement opportunities and lead implementation from concept through completion

Required qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of maintenance certifications and 5+ years of facilities management leadership in a manufacturing setting
  • 7+ years of plant or facilities management experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Must come from a manufacturing background
  • Hands-on experience with facility systems including HVAC, boilers, and electrical distribution
  • Proven track record managing contractors across multiple trades simultaneously
  • Strong project management skills including budgeting, scheduling, and contractor coordination
  • Strong communicator who can work across departments and with diverse teams

Preferred qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred
  • Stationary Engineer license preferred

Compensation and benefits

  • $140,000–$160,000 base salary plus bonus
