Location: Minneapolis, MN | Schedule: Full-time, on-site with travel

Overview

A manufacturer in the machine tool industry is seeking a Swiss CNC Applications Engineer to support customers in the Minneapolis, MN area. This role blends hands-on technical expertise with customer-facing engineering, helping clients get the most out of their CNC machining investments through training, demonstrations, and turnkey project support.

What you'll do

• Lead turnkey projects and customer demonstrations from start to finish, keeping them on schedule and within budget
• Support pre-sale activities such as customer visits, opportunity evaluation, machine assessments, and part processing recommendations
• Build turnkey proposals based on customer needs and machine capabilities
• Design and deliver custom demonstrations for CNC machining centers, lathes, grinders, Swiss style lathes, and multi-tasking machines
• Train customers on the safe setup and operation of these machine types
• Prepare accurate cost estimates, engineering reports, and interpret plans and specifications
• Travel to customer sites to provide on-site training and engineering assistance

Required qualifications

• Experience in Sliding Headstock (Swiss) CNC machine tool related engineering and manufacturing
• In-depth, ongoing knowledge of the machine tool industry and relevant product lines
• Knowledge of Fanuc based controls
• Ability to think quickly, assess situations, and make sound decisions

Preferred qualifications

• 5-axis experience is a plus
• Experience with CAD/CAM software preferred but not required
