Overview

A company operating within America's food distribution system is seeking a VP of Procurement to lead all aspects of product purchasing. This role is central to ensuring profitability, strong vendor relationships, and efficient inventory management that supports the broader supply chain.

What you'll do

• Manage all aspects of product procurement, including program negotiation with manufacturers
• Hire, train, coach, and counsel staff members, achieving corporate goals set by senior management
• Ensure corporate profitability related to vendor bill-back and inbound freight programs
• Develop and execute annual marketing programs
• Supervise associates including staffing, training, coaching, performance management, and problem resolution
• Manage inventory levels to enhance the company's financial position and negotiate best pricing and programs with vendors
• Dispose of proprietary inventory from lost customers and manage inventory dollar levels to optimize cash flow and service levels
• Interact with customers and vendors in a friendly, timely, and quality manner, ensuring accurate and prompt responses to inquiries
• Maintain fill-rate service levels in line with company standards
• Establish procedures to increase efficiency and productivity within the purchasing department
• Improve purchasing strategies and processes based on knowledge of the food distribution industry
• Demonstrate thorough understanding and continued development in the foodservice industry
• May manage the marketing/merchandising function
• Function as a team member within the department and organization, performing additional duties as needed

Required qualifications

• Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience

Preferred qualifications

• 7+ years of related experience preferred
• Food or Grocery distribution experience preferred

Compensation and benefits

• Compensation range: 110,000 to 135,000
