Overview

A healthcare services organization is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join its clinical team in Omaha, NE on a contract basis for a projected duration of 3 months, with strong potential for permanent placement. This role is essential to ensuring accurate, safe, and courteous specimen collection across a diverse patient population, including children.

What you'll do

• Perform blood draws and other specimen collections (e.g., urine, fecal) on patients of all ages, including children
• Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and specimen collection procedures to patients
• Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
• Fully understand and follow physicians' orders
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify all test requisitions against scripts for 100% accuracy
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
• Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures
• Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures
• Update patient information and support workflow recommendations, troubleshooting, and training as needed

Required qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience performing phlebotomy on all ages, including children
• Experience with blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, and decontamination procedures
