Overview
A global law firm with a large, established Real Estate Practice Group is seeking a mid-level Associate Attorney to join its New York office. This is an opportunity to work alongside a collaborative team of more than 80 real estate attorneys nationwide, advising on complex, high-value transactions that shape the commercial real estate landscape.
What you'll do
- Support senior attorneys in structuring, drafting, and negotiating a wide variety of real estate transactions, including financing, acquisition, development, and joint venture matters
- Conduct due diligence and coordinate closing processes for complex real estate deals
- Prepare and review key transactional documents such as loan agreements, purchase and sale agreements, leases, and joint venture agreements
- Advise clients on real estate and financing matters, delivering practical, business-oriented guidance
- Collaborate across practice groups, including corporate and tax, to deliver comprehensive solutions for clients' real estate projects
- Develop strong working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders through responsiveness and high-quality work
Required qualifications
- JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record
- Active Bar Admission in New York, in good standing
- 3-7 years of substantive real estate transactional experience
- Experience representing lenders and/or borrowers in real estate financings, acquisitions, dispositions, development projects, leasing, and joint ventures
- Experience negotiating, documenting, and closing of mortgage, mezzanine, and other secured lending transactions
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Collaborative mindset, professionalism, and enthusiasm for client service are essential
Preferred qualifications
- Prior experience at a large law firm or sophisticated real estate practice is highly preferred
Compensation and benefits
- Annual base salary expected to range from $260,000 – $420,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and market factors
- Discretionary bonus opportunities are also available
