Overview

An established, privately held heavy equipment manufacturer with over a century in business is adding a Mechanical Design Engineer to its engineering team. This role offers the chance to work on diverse mechanical and electrical design projects within a stable, family-oriented organization known for taking care of its employees.

What you'll do

• Complete mechanical and electrical design of equipment, spending the majority of time on design work
• Make modifications to existing designs based on customer requests
• Ensure design and electrical documentation is accurate and meets UL and NEC standards
• Document bill of materials for design projects
• Manage multiple design projects in various stages
• Support the sales and quoting process
• Complete and document engineering change notices (ECNs)
• Provide support to production and vendors related to design and manufacturability
• Participate in weekly design status meetings
• Support mechanical troubleshooting as needed
• Utilize AutoCAD and 3D modeling software
• Spend up to 90% of the day at a desk, with occasional visits to the production floor
• Perform other duties as directed by management

Required qualifications

• High school diploma
• At least four to eight years of experience in a similar Design Engineer role at a heavy equipment manufacturer or OEM (original equipment manufacturer), depending on education level
• Mechanical design experience, including structural and conveyor systems
• 3D modeling experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and timelines
• Strong attention to detail
• Must be local to the Bucyrus, OH area; relocation is not available

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Electrical design experience, including control panels and routings
• Vault software experience
• ERP experience
• Experience in job shop environments
