Overview

A tier-one automotive supplier specializing in the design and production of lighting equipment, accessories, and electronic components is seeking a Senior Manager of Sales/New Model to lead the pursuit and launch of new automotive programs. This role directs strategy across new model development, price planning, design, and quality assurance, and is central to the company's continued growth with existing and prospective accounts.

What you'll do

  • Provide strategic leadership across Sales – New Model Development, Price Planning, Design, and Quality Assurance
  • Direct and support team members in the performance of their duties
  • Establish, communicate, and measure performance against objectives
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement new methods and processes
  • Develop strategic plans and creative concepts for growth in Design and Sales – New Model Development aligned with budget targets
  • Maximize operating profit related to Design, Sales price, and New Model Development (cost of production, quality, and manufacturing methods)
  • Oversee management of customer accounts to build strong relationships, contracts, and amendments
  • Propose new business opportunities from existing and prospective accounts and oversee negotiation of prices on new model projects
  • Develop strategic plans to achieve yearly cost-down targets set by customers
  • Create strategic plans to achieve new model targets and lead technical negotiations on customer projects
  • Facilitate assurance and reliability testing for new models, materials, and mass production products
  • Ensure capability to perform required customer specification tests and regulatory items by overseeing new model schedules, manning, and equipment
  • Monitor and evaluate warranty concerns to improve product performance and mitigate costs
  • Provide leadership through performance planning, ongoing feedback, and recognition
  • Enforce company and departmental policies, procedures, and work instructions
  • Address other issues and responsibilities as they arise

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related Engineering field
  • 15 years of automotive experience including design engineering, production, product development, customer relations and negotiation, and quality assurance
  • 10 years of leadership experience in manager and/or senior manager roles
  • Experience applying regulations and customer specifications in a new product environment
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Experience creating and monitoring budgets
  • Ability to understand product drawings
  • Experience with lab experimenting and testing
  • Budget creation and financial management/monitoring experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft products
  • No visa sponsorship
  • No remote work; on-site position

Preferred qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business or a related Engineering field, preferred
