Overview
A prominent national law firm is seeking an experienced Labor & Employment Counsel Attorney to join its Los Angeles office. This is a strong opportunity for a seasoned practitioner to handle sophisticated employment litigation and advisory matters for a diverse client base within a full-service practice known for its depth and client relationships.
What you'll do
- Defend employers in single-plaintiff employment matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour disputes
- Handle PAGA actions and employment-related class actions
- Manage litigation from inception to resolution, including strategy development, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, and negotiation
- Advise clients regarding compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Collaborate with colleagues and clients to develop proactive workforce and litigation strategies
Required qualifications
- JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record
- Active Bar Admission in California, in good standing
- 9–12 years of substantive labor & employment experience
- Experience defending single-plaintiff employment litigation matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, and reasonable accommodation claims
- Experience handling Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) actions and employment class actions
- High proficiency in drafting and responding to pleadings and discovery
- High proficiency in drafting and arguing dispositive motions and discovery motions
- Experience taking and defending depositions, including plaintiff depositions and defense of corporate witnesses
- Experience advising clients on federal and California employment laws and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage matters from initial assessment through resolution
- Strong research, writing, analytical, communication, case management, and client-relationship skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred qualifications
- A modest portable book of business is preferred, but not required

- Annual base salary range of $280,000-$305,000, as determined by experience and market factors
