Overview
A long-established global manufacturer with more than a century of production excellence is expanding its operations near Hastings, Michigan or Caledonia, Michigan and looking for an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician to keep its highly automated equipment running safely and reliably. This 3rd shift role is key to minimizing downtime and supporting continued growth across the facility's manufacturing cells.
What you'll do
- Keep automated production systems and manufacturing equipment running safely, efficiently, and reliably
- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on manufacturing cells and production equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and PLC-related equipment issues to support production
- Apply a structured, methodical troubleshooting approach to reduce equipment downtime
- Flag recurring equipment issues and downtime trends to Maintenance, Engineering, and Production teams
- Perform basic robot troubleshooting, adjustments, and recovery procedures
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical components, including motors, relays, switches, sensors, drives, and PLCs
- Interpret equipment drawings, schematics, electrical diagrams, and technical manuals to guide fault diagnosis and repairs
- Replace faulty components such as motors, relays, switches, ball screws, bearings, position sensing devices, and pneumatic parts
- Maintain maintenance crib inventory and coordinate with maintenance stores on critical spare parts
- Support Systems Technicians and production teams during breakdowns and continuous improvement initiatives
- Work with the Tool Room to manufacture replacement components and implement equipment improvements
- Assist with equipment upgrades, process improvements, and installation of new production equipment
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and complete work orders
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and industrial maintenance experience
- Ideally 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, electro-mechanical equipment, and industrial automation
- Experience troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment
- Knowledge of PLCs and industrial control systems
- Ability to diagnose equipment failures and perform root cause analysis to prevent repeat breakdowns
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team
- Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement
Preferred qualifications
- Federal, State, or Union issued Journeyman Machine Repair certification, or 3 to 5 years+ of machine repair experience
- Experience with robotic automation
Compensation and benefits
- $26.00 - $33.00 per hour, depending on experience, plus shift allowance
