Overview

A global manufacturing leader known for state-of-the-art production facilities is seeking a Design Applications Engineer to join its large engineering organization in the Pasadena, CA area. This role bridges customer needs and technical design, playing a key part in developing connector and interconnect solutions for demanding applications.

What you'll do

  • Collaborate with customers and sales engineers to understand application requirements and develop optimal technical solutions
  • Review customer specifications, drawings, and industry standards
  • Recommend connector designs that meet customer performance and application requirements
  • Serve as the technical liaison throughout the design and development process
  • Design and develop new connector and interconnect solutions
  • Participate in design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams
  • Support engineering projects through prototype development, testing, and product qualification
  • Ensure designs meet customer, industry, and manufacturing requirements
  • Present technical concepts and design solutions to customers
  • Provide engineering support during customer meetings and industry trade shows
  • Assist in developing technical documentation and product literature
  • Represent the voice of the customer throughout product development
  • Partner with Product Management, Business Development, Manufacturing, and Process Engineering teams
  • Help identify emerging market opportunities and future product technologies
  • Support continuous product innovation and engineering improvements

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another related technical discipline
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel (air and car) up to 50%

Preferred qualifications

  • 2+ years of engineering experience within connectors, interconnect products, power systems, or harsh environment applications
