Location: North Syracuse, NY | Schedule: Full-time, on-site | Compensation: $95,000–$110,000 base + bonus

Overview

An established, large-scale custom original equipment manufacturer with global operations is seeking an Automation Engineer - Drives & Controls to join its engineering team. This direct hire opportunity is central to the company's controls software development, system testing, and customer-facing technical support efforts.

What you'll do

• Develop controls software, including PLC programming using Ladder Logic and Function Block Diagrams
• Design and build HMI applications
• Architect PLC network systems
• Configure AC/DC drives and integrate legacy control systems
• Conduct system testing and validation
• Perform machine startup and commissioning
• Provide remote and on-site troubleshooting and technical support
• Prepare technical documentation and reports
• Support sales teams with technical application studies
• Collaborate cross-functionally and interact with customers throughout project execution

Required qualifications

• BS in Engineering
• 3–5+ years of controls or automation engineering experience
• Experience programming Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs
• Strong knowledge of AC/DC drive systems and industrial control networks
• Experience with HMI development and supervisory control systems
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and industrial automation software
• Ability to travel approximately 30%, including domestic and occasional international travel

Compensation and benefits

• Base salary of $95,000–$110,000 plus bonus plan
• Straight time pay for any hour worked over 45 in the work week
