Overview
An established, large-scale custom original equipment manufacturer with global operations is seeking an Automation Engineer - Drives & Controls to join its engineering team. This direct hire opportunity is central to the company's controls software development, system testing, and customer-facing technical support efforts.
What you'll do
- Develop controls software, including PLC programming using Ladder Logic and Function Block Diagrams
- Design and build HMI applications
- Architect PLC network systems
- Configure AC/DC drives and integrate legacy control systems
- Conduct system testing and validation
- Perform machine startup and commissioning
- Provide remote and on-site troubleshooting and technical support
- Prepare technical documentation and reports
- Support sales teams with technical application studies
- Collaborate cross-functionally and interact with customers throughout project execution
Required qualifications
- BS in Engineering
- 3–5+ years of controls or automation engineering experience
- Experience programming Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs
- Strong knowledge of AC/DC drive systems and industrial control networks
- Experience with HMI development and supervisory control systems
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and industrial automation software
- Ability to travel approximately 30%, including domestic and occasional international travel
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary of $95,000–$110,000 plus bonus plan
- Straight time pay for any hour worked over 45 in the work week
