Overview
A law firm serving underserved populations is seeking an Associate Attorney to manage a criminal defense caseload with a focus on clients affected by substance abuse and mental health challenges. This role plays a key part in delivering holistic, trauma-informed legal advocacy and advancing the firm's broader mission of equitable access to justice.
What you'll do
- Handle a caseload of criminal matters, with a focus on clients impacted by substance abuse and mental health issues
- Provide holistic, trauma-informed legal advocacy that considers the broader circumstances affecting each client
- Support the firm's broader legal services, including family dispute resolution for underserved populations and civil rights litigation
- Advocate for civil rights, social justice, and equitable access to legal representation
- Demonstrate sensitivity, professionalism, and compassion when working with individuals experiencing substance abuse and mental health challenges
- Contribute to a recovery-focused practice committed to helping clients achieve positive, sustainable outcomes
Required qualifications
- Admitted to practice law in the State of Kansas
