Overview

A hospital-based care provider in Dothan, Alabama is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join its nocturnist team. This role is central to delivering overnight care to hospitalized adults, working closely with physicians and hospital leadership to ensure strong patient outcomes during night shifts.

What you'll do

• Perform 12-hour night shifts from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM
• Deliver comprehensive hospital-based care to adult patients
• Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop effective treatment plans
• Manage admissions, conduct daily rounds, and handle cross-coverage duties
• Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging results
• Adjust medications and treatments as required for patient care
• Respond promptly to changes in patient conditions overnight
• Work collaboratively with doctors and hospital leadership to enhance patient care quality
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation and communication regarding patient activities

Required qualifications

• Valid Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license
• Board certification is mandatory
• Excellent clinical decision-making and communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously while effectively collaborating within a physician-led team

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in inpatient, hospitalist, critical care, emergency medicine, or acute care settings preferred
