Overview
A leading management-side labor and employment law firm is seeking an experienced Labor & Employment Associate Attorney to join its New York office. This role is ideal for an attorney with substantial employment litigation experience looking to work on sophisticated matters for a diverse client base within a fast-paced, nationally recognized practice, offering meaningful responsibility and direct client interaction alongside seasoned practitioners.
What you'll do
- Handle a wide range of labor and employment litigation matters, from inception through resolution
- Advise employers on complex workplace law issues, including employee relations, compliance, and risk management
- Draft and negotiate employment agreements, restrictive covenants, and executive compensation provisions
- Represent clients in disputes involving non-compete and non-solicitation agreements
- Apply AI-driven and emerging technologies effectively to enhance efficiency, client service, and legal work product
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop strategic, practical solutions tailored to client needs
Required qualifications
- JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record
- Active Bar Admission in New York, in good standing
- 5–7 years of substantive employment law experience, with a strong focus on wage and hour litigation and counseling
- Significant experience advising employers on compliance with federal, state and local wage and hour laws
- Experience handling complex wage and hour matters, including class, collective and representative actions in federal and state courts
- Experience defending and prosecuting breaches of restrictive covenants
- Ability to leverage AI-driven and emerging technologies effectively to improve efficiency, enhance client service, and elevate the quality of legal work products
- Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
- Ability to manage matters independently while collaborating effectively within team-based environments
Preferred qualifications
- Experience preparing and negotiating employment agreements, including executive compensation provisions, strongly preferred
Compensation and benefits
- Competitive Salary Range: $280,000 – $315,000 annually, commensurate with experience and education, with eligibility for performance-based bonuses
