Lead / Senior Attorney – Debt Recovery Litigation

Overview

A financial services firm specializing in debt recovery is seeking a Lead/Senior Attorney to guide its litigation team through the collection process, from case analysis and discovery to settlement and compliance, ensuring the organization's legal strategies remain effective and current.

What you'll do

  • Manage state-specific litigation workflows and litigation forms
  • Conduct document review and discovery
  • Execute documents requiring the Attorney's signature
  • Communicate with the Managing Attorney and clients to discuss case details
  • Assist in responding to litigation-specific components of client audits
  • Monitor relevant legal rules, regulations, statutes, and case law
  • Conduct research and analysis of legal problems
  • Analyze probable case outcomes using knowledge of legal precedents
  • Prepare and file legal documents
  • Manage and resolve collection litigation
  • Work with Pro Se litigants, opposing counsel, or other interested parties to settle files throughout the litigation process
  • Oversee and interact with outside collections and defense counsel
  • Support corporate compliance with laws and regulations governing debt collection and related activities

Required qualifications

  • Active law license in California
  • 5-7 years of civil litigation experience
  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated case analysis ability and a track record of proven settlement skills
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, train, coach, and mentor
  • Proficient in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in internet and online research
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment such as a copy machine, printer, scanner, and computer
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation usage
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Excellent organizational skills with an eye for details
  • Ability to be flexible to adapt and act quickly when urgent matters require it
  • Ability to work and maintain patience with diversified individuals of various ethnic backgrounds and professional competencies
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to represent the company in various forums to foster its desired image in the community

Preferred qualifications

  • Debt collection experience strongly preferred

Compensation and benefits

  • Eligible for medical, dental, vision, and company-paid life insurance on the first of the month following 60 days of employment
