Field Service Technician

Location: Philadelphia, PA | Schedule: Full-time, field-based with extensive travel | Compensation: $30.00-$40.00/hour
Overview
A world-leading manufacturer of CNC machinery, machining centers, automation systems, and laser cutting and turning equipment is expanding its nationwide field service team, and is seeking a Field Service Technician based near the Philadelphia, PA metro area. This is a direct-hire opportunity for a hands-on technical professional who will travel to customer sites to commission, install, and troubleshoot advanced manufacturing equipment, playing a critical role in keeping customers' operations running smoothly.
What you'll do
- Travel to customer locations to commission and integrate newly installed equipment, with 90-100% travel required
- Install new machinery and systems at customer sites
- Diagnose issues and deliver effective on-site service solutions
- Support the sales team by assisting with servicing of company equipment
- Demonstrate relevant software capabilities to customers
- Document all service activity thoroughly, including work performed and future service needs
- Prepare timesheets, service reports, and installation paperwork accurately and on schedule
- Track expenses and submit expense reports in a timely fashion
- Uphold a safe working environment in accordance with OSHA/MIOSHA standards
- Coordinate and communicate with other internal departments as needed
- Work overtime when required by workload or customer needs
- Maintain strong customer relationships and high satisfaction levels
- Take on additional duties as assigned by management
Required qualifications
- Must live within 50 miles of a major airport
- 90-100% travel required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Comfortable navigating the Internet effectively for research and support
- Able to interpret and apply I/O structure for technical troubleshooting
- Skilled in using electric/electronic test and measurement equipment
- Capable of analyzing and resolving technical mechanical or electrical problems using measured data
- Able to read and comprehend technical materials in equipment manuals and electronic formats
- Able to accurately document the technical steps taken to resolve equipment issues
- Able to clearly communicate technical issues and resolutions to the corporate office
- Demonstrated customer service skills with a focus on relationship-building
- Highly organized with excellent time management abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Resourceful in identifying the right resources or contacts for technical issues
- Effective team player able to collaborate with colleagues and customers at all levels
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
Compensation and benefits
- $30.00-$40.00 hourly pay
