Staff Engineer – Process Development

Overview

An established manufacturer is seeking a Staff Engineer to join its Process Development team. This role is central to advancing manufacturing processes and equipment while supporting factory operations and product design, with a strong focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC).

What you'll do

  • Develop new and maintain or improve existing manufacturing processes with a focus on SAFETY, QUALITY, DELIVERY, and COST (SQDC)
  • Create and manage project plans (tasks, resources, schedules) for process development activities
  • Provide ROI justification for process/equipment improvements and upgrades
  • Specify, identify, and procure new manufacturing equipment for production readiness and prepare equipment for production
  • Develop and optimize process parameters
  • Develop and revise process documentation and work instructions
  • Assist with the design of custom tooling
  • Monitor process yields, cost, and process stability and capability
  • Recommend and implement quality improvements based on process metrics
  • Create, validate, and maintain automatic equipment programs
  • Solve manufacturing problems related to materials, designs, equipment, and people in a timely manner
  • Assist with training of new personnel and help design operator training materials
  • Support factory maintenance personnel with troubleshooting and repair of process equipment
  • Support codification of products
  • Apply understanding of multi-level BoM structures

Required qualifications

  • Associate and/or bachelor’s degree, Engineering student, or higher in Engineering or a related S.T.E.M. area
  • Experience with CAD (e.g. Autodesk suite or Solidworks)
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (JDE), creation of product codes, and routings
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and 6 sigma concepts for process development
  • Fluency in MS Office software applications
  • Flexible with time, when required
