Location: Minneapolis, MN | Schedule: Full-time, field-based with extensive travel | Compensation: $30.00-$40.00/hour

Overview

A world-leading manufacturer of CNC machinery, machining centers, automation systems, and laser cutting and turning equipment is expanding its nationwide field service team and seeking a Field Service Technician based in or near the Minneapolis, MN metro area. In this direct-hire role, you'll travel to customer sites across the country to commission new systems, integrate equipment, and troubleshoot technical issues, serving as a trusted technical resource for customers and the broader sales organization.

What you'll do

  • Install new equipment at customer locations and support the sales team in servicing company machinery
  • Travel to customer sites to diagnose problems and deliver effective service solutions, with 90-100% travel required
  • Demonstrate relevant software capabilities to customers as part of installation and support
  • Document all completed service work thoroughly, along with any future service needs identified on the equipment
  • Prepare timesheets, service reports, and installation paperwork accurately and on schedule
  • Track expenses and submit expense reports in a timely fashion
  • Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with OSHA/MIOSHA guidelines
  • Coordinate and communicate with other internal departments as needed
  • Uphold a high standard of customer service and satisfaction throughout every engagement
  • Work overtime when workload or customer needs require it
  • Take on additional duties as assigned by management

Required qualifications

  • Must reside within 50 miles of a major airport
  • 90-100% travel required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable navigating the Internet for research and support
  • Skilled in interpreting I/O structures for technical troubleshooting
  • Able to effectively operate electrical/electronic test and measurement equipment
  • Capable of analyzing and resolving technical mechanical or electrical problems based on measured data
  • Comfortable reading and understanding technical content in equipment manuals and electronic documentation
  • Able to accurately document the technical steps taken to resolve equipment and product issues
  • Strong ability to communicate technical problems and resolutions to the corporate office
  • Demonstrated customer service skills with a focus on building strong customer relationships
  • Highly organized with excellent time management abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Resourceful, knowing when and who to contact for assistance on technical matters
  • Strong team player able to collaborate with colleagues and customers at all levels
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Compensation and benefits

  • $30.00-$40.00 hourly pay
