CNC Field Service Technician – Metal-Cutting Machines

Location: Menomonie, WI | Schedule: Full-time, field-based with regional travel

Overview

A well-established distributor of CNC machine tools is seeking a Field Service Technician to support its customer base from the Menomonie, WI area. In this role you'll be the hands-on expert who keeps precision metal-cutting equipment running at its best, traveling to customer sites across the region to install, diagnose, and repair complex machinery.

What you'll do

  • Travel to customer locations throughout MN, WI, SD, ND and the surrounding region to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC machine tools, controls, and related equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve issues across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Carry out preventive maintenance visits and flag opportunities to improve equipment performance
  • Reference manuals, technical documentation, and internal/vendor resources to work through complex troubleshooting scenarios
  • Keep customers informed with clear updates on equipment status, repairs performed, and recommendations
  • Complete and submit accurate service and installation reports
  • Deliver on customer commitments with a high level of professionalism and technical skill
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with vendors, suppliers, and customers
  • Participate in ongoing training and technical seminars to stay current on new technologies and product updates
  • Build and maintain deep technical knowledge across all equipment lines supported by the company
  • Take on other duties as assigned

Required qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience repairing or maintaining CNC machinery
  • Experience working with rotating machinery, spindles, and precision bearings
  • Solid understanding of CNC controls along with basic electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics
  • Advanced troubleshooting ability with strong attention to detail and technical accuracy
  • Skilled at reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant business software
  • Valid driver’s license required, with the ability to travel up to 25% throughout the assigned territory as a true road warrior
  • Comfortable staying professional and composed under pressure with both customers and colleagues
