Overview
An established CNC machine tool manufacturer is seeking a CNC Field Service Engineer to support customers from a base near Memphis, TN. In this role, you'll be the hands-on expert who keeps precision machining equipment running at peak performance across customer sites nationwide, combining electrical and mechanical know-how with a strong focus on customer satisfaction. The position reports to the CNC Field Service Manager, and candidates located within an hour of an airport, or based in IL, TN, KY, AL, or OH, are preferred.
What you'll do
- Lead on-site installation of new CNC machine tool systems, including all options and accessories
- Carry out machine leveling, geometry verification, and fine-tuning to achieve optimal performance
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and application-specific issues
- Pinpoint root causes of equipment problems and recommend repair or replacement solutions
- Deliver remote technical support by phone, email, and other channels in addition to on-site visits
- Partner with customers, distributors, and internal teams to resolve technical challenges
- Conduct customer training sessions and support project coordination efforts
- Represent the company at trade shows and company events as needed
- Keep thorough, accurate service records and reports
- Travel extensively (100%), including overnight stays and occasional weekend travel
- Take on additional duties as required
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of experience maintaining and servicing CNC machine tools, covering both electrical and mechanical systems
- 5+ years of experience delivering remote technical support within the machine tool industry
- Demonstrated background installing and servicing machining centers, including leveling and geometric alignment
- Strong knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting
- Hands-on experience with CNC control systems, including FANUC controls
- Solid grasp of power circuits and industrial electrical systems
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service abilities
- Willingness to travel extensively (100% during weekdays) and work independently in the field
