CNC Field Service Engineer – CNC Machine Tools

Location: Cleveland, OH (field-based, with coverage East of the Mississippi) | Schedule: Full-time, field/on-site at customer locations

Overview

A well-established CNC machine tool builder is looking for a Field Service Engineer to support its customer base from the Cleveland, OH area. In this role, you'll be the technical expert on the ground, keeping complex CNC equipment running smoothly at customer facilities across the country. This is a key position for a manufacturer that depends on fast, knowledgeable field support to keep its reputation for reliability intact.

What you'll do

  • Lead installation of new CNC machine tool systems, including all related options and accessories, at customer sites
  • Carry out machine leveling, geometry checks, and final calibration to confirm peak performance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and application-level issues
  • Pinpoint root causes of equipment problems and recommend repair or replacement solutions
  • Deliver remote technical support by phone, email, and other channels in addition to on-site visits
  • Act as a technical resource for customers, distributors, and internal colleagues working through equipment issues
  • Run customer training sessions and help coordinate related project work
  • Represent the company with service support at trade shows and company events as needed
  • Keep thorough, accurate service records and reporting
  • Travel extensively (100%), including overnight stays and occasional weekend travel
  • Take on other duties as assigned

Required qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience maintaining and servicing CNC machine tools, covering both electrical and mechanical systems
  • 5+ years of experience delivering remote technical support within the machine tool industry
  • Hands-on experience installing and servicing machining centers, including leveling and geometric alignment
  • Strong working knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Experience with CNC control systems, including FANUC controls
  • Solid grasp of power circuits and industrial electrical systems
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service abilities
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively (100% during weekdays) and work independently in the field
  • Must be based East of the Mississippi; preference given to candidates within an hour of an airport and/or located in IL, TN, KY, AL, and OH
