Overview

A leading international law firm is seeking a mid-level Litigation Associate Attorney to join its Trial & Defense Practice in New York, NY. This hybrid role offers exposure to a broad range of sophisticated general liability matters, including New York Labor Law, premises liability, catastrophic injury, transportation, hospitality, and negligent security claims, with direct interaction with domestic and international insurer clients.

What you'll do

• Manage a litigation caseload of approximately 25–30 matters
• Take and defend depositions, and participate in hearings and mediations
• Draft and argue motions, and prepare pleadings and briefs
• Prepare detailed correspondence and reporting to clients and carrier representatives
• Conduct legal research using Westlaw, Lexis, and other research tools
• Prepare and respond to written discovery requests
• Review, analyze, and organize documents and materials for production
• Investigate claims, develop case strategy, and assess liability and exposure
• Assist in trial and mediation preparation and participate as needed
• Collaborate with partners, clients, and cross-functional teams to advance case objectives

What you'll need

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school with an excellent academic record
• Active Bar Admission in New York, in good standing
• 3–6 years of substantive litigation experience
• Experience defending premises liability, general liability, catastrophic injury, hospitality, transportation, or negligent security matters
• Background handling New York Labor Law claims strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to take and defend depositions
• Superior legal writing, analytical, and research skills
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work directly with insurer clients and insureds
• Motivated, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Compensation and benefits

• Annual base salary range of $130,000–$165,000, based on experience and market factors
