Location: Wilson, North Carolina | Schedule: Full-time, on-site (1st & 2nd shifts) | Compensation: $65,000-$80,000 ($65-80K) plus bonus
Overview
An established food manufacturing operation is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead hourly production employees on either 1st or 2nd shift. This role is central to ensuring production targets are met on time and to the highest quality standards, while driving safety, efficiency, and team performance on the production floor.
What you'll do
- Guide and lead production employees during assigned shift, ensuring production targets are met on time and to the highest quality standards
- Train, coach, and motivate the team to achieve production goals while maintaining safety and quality
- Drive clear communication across all levels to keep the team aligned with daily objectives and results
- Maximize efficiency and minimize costs
- Oversee routine maintenance and setup of equipment and facilities
- Perform daily inspections on the production floor to identify unsafe conditions and take immediate corrective action
- Lead safety audits, champion ergonomic initiatives, and ensure adherence to HACCP and USDA regulations
- Maintain product quality by enforcing Food Safety and Food Quality plans
- Train employees on safe operating procedures, including lock-out/tag-out, and ensure tasks are performed according to product specifications
- Track and analyze production yields, efficiencies, and variances, working with Operations Managers and Supervisors to improve workflows and equipment use, minimize downtime, and reduce costs
- Direct and provide guidance to hourly production employees on safety, quality, and production goals
- Lead monthly line meetings and walk the production floor daily
- Analyze key product performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and suggest changes to enhance production efficiency, minimize costs, and maintain high standards of quality
Required qualifications
- Experience acting as a lead by providing training, coaching, or mentoring to less experienced staff, or through managing a process or project
- Strong oral and written communication skills while leading problem-solving efforts for complex process issues
- Solid analytical and math abilities
- Skilled at motivating, training, and coaching employees to achieve peak performance while fostering a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment
- Adaptable to fast-paced, dynamic environments, capable of working in varying conditions (heat and cold), and willing to work long hours and weekends when needed
- Must have experience with yields, labor, and root cause analysis
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business or a related field and 2+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred (degree not required)
- Manufacturing background preferred; food industry experience a plus
- Will consider candidates from warehouse or distribution environments
Compensation and benefits
- $65,000-$80,000 ($65-80K) base salary plus bonus
