CNC Field Service Technician – Metal-Cutting Machines

Overview
An established distributor of CNC machine tools is looking for a Field Service Technician to support customers across the Minneapolis metro area and surrounding region. In this role, you'll be the technical expert on-site, keeping precision CNC equipment running smoothly and helping customers get the most out of their machinery investments.
What you'll do
- Travel to customer locations throughout MN, WI, SD, ND and the broader regional territory to install, troubleshoot, repair, and service CNC machine tools, controls, and associated equipment
- Conduct preventive maintenance visits and flag opportunities to improve machine performance
- Troubleshoot and fix issues spanning mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Lean on technical manuals, documentation, and vendor or internal support resources to resolve complex equipment problems
- Keep customers informed with clear updates on machine condition, repairs performed, and next-step recommendations
- Complete service and installation documentation accurately and submit it in a timely manner
- Deliver on customer commitments with professionalism and strong technical execution
- Cultivate solid working relationships with customers, vendors, and suppliers
- Keep skills sharp by participating in training sessions and technical seminars as new products and technologies emerge
- Build and maintain thorough technical knowledge across the full range of equipment lines supported by the company
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed
Required qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience maintaining or repairing CNC machinery
- Background working with rotating machinery, spindles, and precision bearings
- Solid grasp of CNC controls along with the ability to read basic electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics
- Sharp troubleshooting instincts paired with close attention to detail and technical precision
- Comfort reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics
- Working proficiency in Microsoft Office and similar business software
- Valid driver's license, along with willingness to travel up to 25% across the assigned territory as a true road warrior
- Professional composure when working under pressure with customers and teammates
