CNC Field Service Technician – Metal-Cutting Machines

Overview
A distributor of CNC machine tools serving the Hudson, WI area and broader upper-Midwest region is looking for a CNC Field Service Technician. In this role, you'll be the hands-on expert customers rely on to keep their CNC equipment running at peak performance, combining mechanical, electrical, and controls expertise with strong customer-facing communication.
What you'll do
- Travel to customer sites throughout MN, WI, SD, ND and the surrounding region to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC machine tools, controls, and related equipment
- Diagnose and resolve issues across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Carry out preventive maintenance and flag opportunities to improve equipment performance
- Leverage manuals, technical documentation, and internal or vendor resources to work through complex troubleshooting
- Keep customers informed with clear updates on equipment condition, repairs performed, and recommendations
- Complete and submit accurate service and installation reports
- Deliver on customer commitments with professionalism and technical excellence
- Cultivate strong working relationships with vendors, suppliers, and customers
- Participate in ongoing training and technical seminars to stay current on new technologies and product updates
- Build and maintain deep technical knowledge across all equipment lines supported by the company
- Take on additional duties as needed
Required qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience repairing or maintaining CNC machinery
- Experience with rotating machinery, spindles, and precision bearings
- Solid understanding of CNC controls along with basic electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics
- Advanced troubleshooting ability with strong attention to detail and technical accuracy
- Capability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant business software
- Valid driver's license required, along with willingness to travel as a road warrior up to 25% throughout the assigned territory
- Ability to stay composed and professional under pressure with both customers and colleagues
