CNC Machinist Lathe – Nakamura Lathe

Overview
An established manufacturing company is looking for an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to join its production team in a direct-hire role. This position is key to maintaining high-quality output in the CNC Lathe Department, requiring a machinist who can work independently, train others, and keep operations running smoothly.
What you'll do
- Set up and operate CNC lathe equipment, including Nakamura machines
- Work independently from blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions
- Select, change, and set all required tooling
- Determine and adjust appropriate feeds and speeds
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections
- Properly use and understand measuring and gauging equipment
- Ensure the quality of all products produced on assigned machines
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and production issues
- Train and monitor operators within the department
- Perform required 5S activities and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Conduct line walks in the lathe area as directed by the supervisor
- Follow all company safety policies and promptly report unsafe conditions or practices
- Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor
Required qualifications
- Minimum of five years of CNC machine setup experience
- Demonstrated CNC lathe setup and operating experience
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing instructions
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of machining feeds and speeds
- Proficiency with inspection tools, measuring instruments, and gauges
- Ability to work independently while supporting department operators
- Understanding of Lean Enterprise principles and tools
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with Nakamura equipment is strongly preferred
