Overview
A not-for-profit acute care community hospital located about an hour from Houston, Texas, with 120 beds and an affiliated Rural Health Clinic, serving a community of roughly 70,000 residents, is seeking an experienced OR Circulator / Nurse RN. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on patient outcomes within a smaller, close-knit facility rather than a large hospital system, while enjoying a strong work/life balance.
What you'll do
- Use the nursing process to collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team in delivering care to patients before, during, and after surgical or invasive procedures
- Conduct ongoing, systematic assessments of patients to establish nursing diagnoses and predict outcomes
- Coordinate and analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses and establish patient goals
- Coordinate and plan nursing care delivery with a multidisciplinary team, making appropriate clinical decisions
- Implement interventions identified in the patient's plan of care at a competent level
- Evaluate patient progress toward expected outcomes and communicate effectively with physicians and team members
- Provide patient and family teaching based on individual needs
- Administer and reconcile medications appropriately
- Adhere to infection prevention protocols
- Uphold patient rights, including confidentiality, informed consent, and privacy
- Demonstrate adaptability, problem-solving, and professional behavior at all times
- Participate in systemic, interdisciplinary evaluation of programs and process improvement initiatives
- Support professional growth through continuing education and competence validation; serve as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff
- Maintain patient confidentiality and appropriate handling of PHI
- Participate in survey readiness activities and ensure departmental compliance with regulatory standards
Required qualifications
- Graduate of a school of nursing with an Associate's degree and Bachelor's degree
- One year of recent OR Circulating experience required
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas, or immediately eligible
- Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of employment
Preferred qualifications
- CNOR certification preferred
Compensation and benefits
- Pay range of $45-50/hr (approximately $45,000 to $50,000 per year for full time work)
