Controls Technician – programming and building PLC panels

Location: Southwest suburban Atlanta, GA | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, day shift 7:00am - 3:30pm Monday thru Friday | Compensation: Attractive hourly rate, overtime paid at time and 1/2

Overview

An established manufacturer with a dominant share of its market and a strong workplace culture is seeking a Controls Technician for its southwest suburban Atlanta facility. This role will play a key part in cell design, controls integration, and the installation of automated equipment, building and programming PLC panels and bringing them online to support production.

What you'll do

  • Participate in cell design and integration of controls with automated equipment
  • Build PLC panels, program them, and get them up and running
  • Assist in configuring, testing, operating, maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting controls and other automated production systems
  • Install air logic controls from prints or schematics (pneumatics)
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic circuits including check valves, accumulators, cylinders, flow controls, directional control valves, and pressure control valves
  • Troubleshoot PLC systems using a computer
  • Install, program, or repair programmable controllers and robot controllers
  • Apply knowledge of fabrication equipment to complete maintenance tasks
  • Operate equipment or oversee its operation
  • Analyze and categorize events within the equipment
  • Work closely with engineers and the production team to achieve desired output
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, including routine upgrades and inspections
  • Repair machine controls, systems, and tools as needed
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment to repair or replace defective parts
  • Train others to install, use, and service equipment

Required qualifications

  • At least 6 years of related experience
  • PLC programming experience
  • Ladder logic troubleshooting experience
  • Panel building experience
  • Electrical experience
  • Some robotic experience
  • Experience with safety circuit integration
  • Must be authorized to work indefinitely in the USA without sponsorship
