Overview

An established, family-owned industrial hardware distributor with decades of operating history is seeking a Route Sales Manager to run a fully stocked mobile store serving customers across a range of industries, including transportation, aviation, facilities maintenance, aerospace, medical, military, marine, power generation, manufacturing, government, and heavy equipment. In this role, you'll bring the store directly to the customer, building relationships and driving sales within a defined territory.

What you'll do

• Develop new sales prospects through research, referrals, and calls on businesses near existing customers
• Make face-to-face calls on both cold and warm sales prospects
• Present products and services using sample boards, product demonstrations, and your mobile store
• Maintain the cleanliness, operation, marketing, and overall functionality of your mobile store
• Submit complete and accurate daily business reports detailing sales orders and prospect calls
• Maintain accurate customer contact information, including notes, names, phone numbers, and addresses, using company software

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must reside within the assigned territory
• Must be able to purchase or lease an approved mobile store vehicle
• Must maintain a clean driving history
• Must have the physical ability to kneel and bend to the floor on a regular basis
• Strong, tenured work background with no job hopping; ideally a maximum of 3 companies over the past 10 years
• Excellent analytical, reasoning, and organizational skills
• Proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, email, and common business applications
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and a proven history of goal attainment

Preferred qualifications

• Outside industrial sales experience, especially in route or industrial sales
