Overview

A defense-sector hardware manufacturer is seeking an FPGA Engineer to join its team designing next-generation Electronic Safe and Arm Devices for DOD weapon systems. This role focuses on ASIC/FPGA architecture, design, and development for mission-critical fuze systems, combining hardware, firmware, and microcontroller engineering in a highly specialized field.

What you'll do

• Analyze requirements and define architecture for FPGA, hardware, and microcontroller products, including associated firmware
• Develop Verilog HDL targeting Antifuse and enhanced Flash FPGAs
• Design ASIC/FPGA logic for sensor interfaces, sequence verification, A/D and D/A interfaces, communication protocols, state machines, and timer chains used in Electronic Safe and Arm Devices (Fuzes)
• Perform functional analysis and performance profiling of hardware and firmware in test environments or on target host systems
• Contribute to process improvements to enhance hardware-firmware quality and reduce time-to-market
• Work with Microsemi/Actel FPGAs and QuestaSim for simulation
• Support System Verilog UVM verification and C# based microcontroller development

Required qualifications

• US Citizenship required
• Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience, OR Graduate Degree and minimum 4 years of prior related experience, OR in lieu of a degree, minimum 10 years of prior related experience
• Knowledge using Verilog for Logic Design
• Programming experience in C for embedded systems, including development of algorithms, manipulation of data structures, and implementing highly optimized code
• Experience with lab tools: Logic Analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG/ICE debuggers, and protocol analyzers
• Willingness to work Onsite Only

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge using System Verilog for verification with AVM, VMM, OVM, or UVM a plus
• Experience developing C# source code targeting enhanced Flash Microcontrollers
