Overview
An accounting and advisory firm is seeking an Assurance Manager to lead audit and assurance engagements for healthcare industry clients. This role is based in the Pittsburgh, PA area.
What you'll do
- Manage Compilations, Reviews, Yellowbook Auditing, Write-Up work, and GAAP Auditing engagements
- Take charge of assigned engagements, including team staffing, job planning, and scheduling with the engagement Principal and assurance leadership
- Evaluate client internal controls and prepare or review work programs and time budgets for principal approval
- Support training of team members, providing guidance, direction, and constructive feedback on working papers
- Review significant engagement findings involving accounting principles or statement presentation with the Principal or assurance leadership
- Prepare or review financial statements, notes, schedules, management letters, and tax returns ahead of client discussions
- Prepare and discuss engagement evaluation reports for each supervised team member before forwarding to the Principal
- Serve as an instructor or discussion leader in educational programs
- Monitor engagement budgets and alert the principal if time exceeds budget
- Identify work beyond the engagement letter's scope, estimate time required, and obtain client approval before proceeding
- Assist new businesses with entity selection and software implementation
- Maintain strong technical and professional competence, staying current on professional pronouncements
- Contribute to team members' semi-annual and annual performance evaluations
- Collaborate with clients and firm team members to provide proactive individual and business tax planning, consulting, and compliance services
- Apply a general understanding of tax accounting concepts as they relate to the healthcare industry
- Ensure client and team satisfaction through clear communication, deadline management, and proactive sharing of tax savings strategies
- Work closely with Partners, Directors, Senior Managers, and staff on client management, professional development, and business development
- Supervise and lead associate and senior associate team members on client engagement responsibilities and deadlines
- Develop skills to attract new clients and expand business with existing clients
- Stay current on legislative or professional changes and consult with clients on potential implications
- Participate in client development through networking and represent the firm professionally in the business community
- Demonstrate continual commitment to the firm's culture, values, and client service principles
- Exhibit strong communication and resourcefulness that encourages others to develop similar skills
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a similar area of concentration
- 5+ years of public accounting experience in audit/assurance services
- Strong GAAP accounting background with a good understanding of cash basis tax accounting for healthcare entities
- Healthcare and Continuing Care Communities experience strongly preferred
- HUD, Cost Reporting, and GAGAS experience preferred
- Competence in accounting and auditing practices
- Previous experience planning and supervising personnel and engagements
- Excellent research, writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to interact well with team members and clients
- Experience with Single Audits is a plus
- Competent working knowledge of accounting and auditing software
- CPA designation preferred
Compensation and benefits
- Salary of $120,000 to $150,000 plus bonus
