Overview

A rapidly expanding custom automation integration company in the Greater Milwaukee area is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to own complete electrical projects from concept through commissioning. This is a hands-on, end-to-end ownership role for building ground-up robotic cells and custom machinery for diverse manufacturing clients across North America.

What you'll do

  • Develop complete electrical schematics, power distribution layouts, safety circuits, and control architectures from scratch using AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical
  • Create precise enclosure panel layouts and generate comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs) specifying component hardware, terminal blocks, disconnects, and field cabling
  • Write, test, and optimize Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLC control logic and HMI interface applications for high-mix custom automation builds
  • Participate in hands-on shop assembly and panel wiring, verifying electrical connections and hardware integration prior to runoff
  • Calibrate 2D/3D vision platforms (Cognex, Keyence) and FANUC robotic cells for material handling, guidance, and part inspection
  • Conduct field commissioning trips (10–15% travel) to oversee system integration, startup, and customer handoff

Required qualifications

  • Associate (A.S.) Degree or Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, or Mechatronics
  • 3+ years of ground-up electrical design creating complete industrial electrical schematics and control circuits using AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical
  • 3+ years of panel layout and enclosure design experience, including spatial component placement and enclosure configuration
  • 3+ years generating detailed, accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for complex automated systems
  • Hands-on experience programming Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLCs and configuring HMI control systems for industrial machinery
  • Demonstrated history of job stability and long-term commitment with previous employers
  • Willingness and ability to travel 10–15% domestically for client startups and system commissioning
  • Must reside within a comfortable daily commuting distance of the Oak Creek / South Milwaukee, WI area
  • US Citizenship or Green Card required

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience programming, teaching paths, or interfacing FANUC robotic arms alongside PLC cell controllers
  • Familiarity with Cognex, Keyence, FANUC iR Vision systems, or Ignition SCADA platforms
  • Direct experience with panel wiring, motor drive configuration (VFDs), and low-voltage field device wiring

Compensation and benefits
