Overview

A privately held automation systems integrator with a century-long legacy of engineering excellence designs complex, turnkey automated systems for manufacturing clients across automotive, consumer goods, and heavy industrial sectors. This senior-level, direct-hire role offers full ownership of custom robotic cell projects from initial design through shop-floor debug and on-site commissioning at client facilities worldwide.

What you'll do

• Execute ground-up robotic cell setups, calibrations, and I/O communication network configuration on Fanuc, ABB, or Yaskawa platforms
• Program robot cell control logic and architecture to ensure seamless handshaking with master PLC controllers and standalone equipment
• Integrate, configure, and program industrial vision hardware and software for part guidance, inspection, and high-speed handling
• Partner with project engineering teams through shop-floor assembly, control wiring verification, and end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) integration
• Travel 30–40% domestically and internationally to lead on-site mechanical/electrical startup and final commissioning with manufacturing partners
• Provide technical layout insights, cycle-time analyses, and feasibility data to support applications engineering and customer quoting
• Mentor in-house assembly personnel and junior technicians on build workflows and client specifications

Required qualifications

• 2-Year or 4-Year Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Software Engineering)
• 4 to 6 years of dedicated industrial robotics and PLC integration experience on custom manufacturing machinery
• Hands-on mastery of Fanuc, Yaskawa, or ABB robot platforms combined with advanced PLC troubleshooting skills
• Hands-on proficiency with industrial vision systems, offline simulation tools, and CAD/SolidWorks software
• Expert ability to diagnose and debug complex automated machinery across robotic, electrical, fluid power, and mechanical domains
• Ability to travel 30% to 40%, with a valid Driver's License and active Passport capability
• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency (Green Card) required
• Must reside within a 45-minute daily commuting radius of the Greater Milwaukee, WI area (North Milwaukee / Brown Deer vicinity)

Preferred qualifications

• Deep experience programming Cognex, Keyence, or FANUC iRVision hardware and software packages
• Advanced proficiency writing or troubleshooting logic in Rockwell Automation (Studio 5000) or Siemens (TIA Portal) environments
• Hands-on experience with RoboGuide, RobotStudio, or SolidWorks for cell layout and reach studies

Compensation and benefits

• $83,200 – $104,000 annually ($40.00 – $50.00/hr), scaling with technical depth (lower end equating to roughly $40,000 semi-annual base before overtime)
