Chief Engineer – Commercial Laundry Linen Service Plant

Overview
An established commercial laundry operation serving the linen service industry is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead its maintenance department. This role is central to keeping industrial textile processing equipment and facility systems running safely, efficiently, and reliably.
What you'll do
- Champion safety as the top priority, ensuring a safe working environment and protection of all company assets
- Oversee proper maintenance, preventive maintenance (PMs), repairs, and installations on all plant equipment
- Supervise, direct, coordinate, and assign daily work schedules to hold the maintenance team accountable
- Develop and implement computerized methods, control systems, and procedures to maintain a fully operational and productive preventive maintenance program, parts stockroom, and inventory system
- Monitor and ensure efficient use of all utilities, practicing energy conservation through usage reduction and cost control
- Recommend and communicate capital expenditures, equipment, parts, supplies, and materials needs to senior management
Required qualifications
- 3+ years of Maintenance Management experience with specific knowledge of machinery, electricity, electronics, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics, welder, and boiler applications
- Commercial laundry experience is required
- A preventive maintenance mindset with experience managing a PM program in this industry or a similar industry
- Previous supervisory/management experience with a proven ability to lead and train a team of maintenance technicians
- Strong electrical troubleshooting ability with 3 phase 230 volt systems
- PLC programming experience
- Experience in carpentry, boiler repair, welding, and general facility repairs
- A team player with enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work well done; a self-starter dedicated to continual quality improvement
