Overview
A large, well-established law firm is seeking a Senior Associate Attorney to join its Insurance Coverage Practice Group, handling complex, high-value coverage litigation and market conduct matters for domestic and international insurers. This is a hybrid role based in Los Angeles or Irvine, CA, remote every day except Monday, when in-office presence is required.
What you'll do
- Analyze insurance policies and draft detailed coverage opinions
- Provide clear and actionable coverage recommendations for clients
- Conduct legal research using Westlaw, Lexis, and other research tools
- Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials
- Draft interrogatories, document requests, and responses
- Review and analyze document collections in preparation for litigation
- Engage in direct communication with domestic and international insurers
- Collaborate with partners and team members to advance case objectives with efficiency and precision
What you'll need
- JD from an ABA-accredited law school with an excellent academic record
- Law Review and/or Honors required
- Active Bar Admission in California, in good standing
- 6+ years of substantive litigation experience, with a focus on insurance coverage matters
- Admission to other states (particularly TX, NY, WA, or CO) is an asset
- Experience analyzing complex insurance policies
- Ability to provide clear coverage recommendations
- Demonstrated experience drafting litigation-related documents
- Experience participating in litigation proceedings, including depositions and mediations, among others
- Familiarity with some or all of the following: bad faith insurance claims, commercial general liability, commercial property, errors & omissions, and directors & officers
- Exceptional legal research and writing skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
Compensation and benefits
- Expected annual base salary range of $200,000–$235,000, as determined by experience and market factors
