Overview
A long-term care facility in Penn Yan, New York (Finger Lakes region) is seeking a Nurse Manager to lead its Special Needs Unit. This is a Full Time, Direct Hire, day-shift position reporting to the Director of Nursing, with weekend rotations required and relocation expenses available.
What you'll do
- Communicate effectively with staff, patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members
- Apply management systems and processes to lead staff toward organizational objectives
- Assess departmental needs, develop and implement interventions, and evaluate their effectiveness
- Facilitate project management, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities
- Maintain familiarity with DOH requirements
- Implement strategies to support quality care, patient safety, and a positive resident/family experience
- Foster staff development, empowerment, and collegial relationships while promoting best-practice nursing care
- Allocate resources to support efficient, effective, compassionate, and fiscally responsible nursing care
- Coordinate care across departments through interdisciplinary collaboration and communication
- Participate in recruitment, selection, and retention of personnel
- Ensure appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and continuing professional development for staff
- Supervise CNA Trainees, CNAs, Senior CNAs, LPNs, RNs, and the Unit Clerk
- Provide age-appropriate, population-specific care tailored to residents' individual needs
What you'll need
- Consistent work history in Long Term Care
- At least 2 years of recent manager experience in an LTC Facility
- Experience as a Nurse Manager or Nursing Supervisor is ideal
- Experience with a Special Needs Unit preferred
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Professional Nurse Program
- Current NYS License to practice as a Professional Registered Nurse
- Two years of nursing experience or Two years of Long Term Care experience
- Supervisor or management experience a plus
- Computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheets, power point
- Preferred experience with Microsoft Office (word, excel, power point) and Meditech
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and basic management competencies
Compensation and benefits
- Salary range: $90,000.00-105,000.00, based on experience
