Location: Atlanta, GA (southwest metro area) | Schedule: Full-time, on-site; typical hours 8-5 with potential for 45-50 hour weeks

Overview

An established manufacturer with a large market share in its product category and a strong workplace culture is investing heavily in new capital equipment at its Atlanta-area plant. The company is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join its team, reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, to help drive process design and productivity improvements as the facility grows.

What you'll do

• Design production tooling using 2D and 3D software, specifically SolidWorks
• Implement productivity improvements on current production lines
• Perform root cause analysis of failures using statistical methods and Lean Tools, recommending changes to designs, tolerances, or processing methods
• Design and implement production processes for new products and design changes to existing products
• Perform FMEA's on new and existing products involving designs, materials, or processes
• Review product designs for manufacturability and optimized processing
• Participate in cross-functional teams to ensure optimal productivity methods
• Lead exercises in design of experiments, lean manufacturing, and ROIA
• Lead design review meetings for new and existing products
• Create work instructions, statements of work, spare parts inventories, and critical parts inventories
• Implement automation, robotics, vision systems, controls integration, end-of-arm tooling, fixturing, gauging, and machine design

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (BA) from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to effectively use 3D modeling software, specifically SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office
• Tooling experience required
• Project management experience required to run projects in their entirety
• Automation experience required, including robotics and PLCs
• Experience as a manufacturing engineer in a heavy manufacturing environment
• Formal industry experience (flexible as to industry)
• Must be authorized to work indefinitely in the USA without sponsorship
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear regularly; occasionally reach with hands/arms and lift up to 50 lbs

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in zinc or high pressure aluminum die casting, stamping, plating, or finishing preferred; plastic injection molding experience will also be considered
• Foundry experience is desired
