Location: Southwest Atlanta, GA metropolitan area (Augusta, GA listed region) | Schedule: Full-time, on-site; typical hours 8-5 with potential 45-50 hour weeks

Overview

An established manufacturer with a large market share in its product category and a strong working culture is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for a plant site in the southwest Atlanta, GA metro area. The company has made significant recent investment in new capital equipment. This role reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and plays a key part in planning and optimizing manufacturing processes across the plant.

What you'll do

  • Design production tooling using 2D and 3D software such as SolidWorks
  • Implement productivity improvements on current production lines
  • Perform root cause analysis of failures using statistical methods and Lean tools, recommending design, tolerance, or process changes
  • Design and implement production processes for new products and design changes to existing products
  • Perform FMEAs on new and existing products involving designs, materials, or processes
  • Review product designs for manufacturability and optimized processing
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to ensure optimal productivity methods
  • Apply design of experiments, lean manufacturing, and ROIA principles
  • Lead or participate in design review meetings for new and existing products
  • Create work instructions, statements of work, and spare/critical parts inventories
  • Support implementation of automation, robotics, vision systems, controls integration, end-of-arm tooling, fixturing, gauging, and machine design

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience (less than a bachelor's degree considered with relevant experience)
  • At least 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • Proficiency with 3D modeling software, specifically SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office
  • Tooling experience required
  • Some project management experience required
  • Automation experience including robotics and PLCs
  • Experience as a manufacturing engineer in a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Formal industry experience; flexible as to specific industry
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Must be authorized to work indefinitely in the USA without sponsorship
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and talk/hear regularly; occasionally reach with hands/arms and lift up to 50 lbs
