Location: Huntsville, AL | Schedule: Full-time, field-based (up to 50% travel) | Compensation: $35 – $60/hr (Level II), $65 – $75/hr (Level III), $75 – $85+/hr (Level IV)
Overview
A nationally recognized leader in electrical power services is seeking Field Service Technicians (Level II–IV) to perform acceptance and maintenance testing on medium- and high-voltage equipment across utility, industrial, and data center environments. This field-based role suits technically skilled professionals who value quality workmanship, operate with a safety-first mindset, and want to join a high-utilization team with a strong project pipeline.
What you'll do
- Perform acceptance and maintenance testing per NETA standards on medium- and high-voltage equipment
- Test and troubleshoot switchgear (LV/MV), power transformers, circuit breakers, and protective relays/protection systems
- Execute LOTO and safety procedures in compliance with NFPA 70E
- Conduct arc-flash and shock hazard evaluations as required
- Analyze test results and identify deficiencies
- Generate detailed field service reports and documentation
- Provide timely updates to management and clients on findings and project status
- Support or lead field crews depending on experience and certification level
- Mentor junior technicians and trainees as applicable
- Level II: execute testing under supervision while building technical foundation
- Level III: lead small crews and own portions of projects independently
- Level IV: serve as SME/Lead Tech with client-facing responsibilities, full project ownership, and mentorship of junior staff
Required qualifications
- 2–8+ years of electrical testing experience (range is level dependent)
- Strong understanding of power distribution systems
- Familiarity with NETA standards and NFPA 70E
- Ability to travel up to 50%
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- One of the following: NETA Certification (Level II, III, or IV), NICET EPT Certification (Level II, III, or IV), or strong hands-on apparatus testing experience in lieu of certification
Preferred qualifications
- NETA Certification (Level II, III, or IV)
- OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid
- PowerDB proficiency
- OEM test equipment experience: Megger, Doble, Omicron, or similar
Compensation and benefits
- Level II (~2–4 yrs, NETA II/NICET EPT II or equivalent): $35 – $60/hr
- Level III (~5–8 yrs, NETA III/NICET EPT III or equivalent): $65 – $75/hr
- Level IV (8+ yrs, NETA IV/NICET EPT IV or equivalent): $75 – $85+/hr
- Per diem: ~$127/day (GSA rate)
- Company card or full expense reimbursement
