Overview
A leading heavy civil construction company in Nashville, TN is seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join its Precon Department. This organization manages complex civil and infrastructure projects, leveraging technology, equipment, and geological analysis to deliver successful outcomes for clients. The Civil Estimator will play a key role in preparing competitive cost estimates that directly influence the company's ability to win work and execute demanding projects.
What you'll do
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates
- Orchestrate the estimating and bid processes for civil projects
- Identify labor, materials, and time requirements by studying proposals and plans
- Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes
- Prepare bid packages and present final estimates to senior management
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when necessary
- Provide value engineering recommendations
- Maintain historical cost data and develop estimating templates and tools
Required qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Civil Estimator in the civil construction industry
- Proven track record of take-offs and estimating a range of civil projects (excavation, sitework, utilities, etc.)
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
- Strong attention to detail
Preferred qualifications
- Proficiency in civil estimating software preferred (Agtek, Bid-To-Win, HeavyBid, etc.)
