Overview
A regional sports medicine program is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to support the health, safety, and performance of athletes at the high school, collegiate, and semi-professional levels. This full-time, direct hire role is open to both experienced clinicians and new graduates in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training, offering the chance to grow within a collaborative, forward-thinking program.
What you'll do
- Provide comprehensive athletic training services, including prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries in accordance with NATA Board of Certification standards
- Cover assigned practices, games, and events, including evenings, weekends, and travel for away competitions when required
- Deliver on-site care, including first aid, emergency response, and injury assessment
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including therapeutic exercise and strength and conditioning programs
- Apply modalities and treatment techniques safely and effectively
- Monitor athlete progress and adjust care plans as needed
- Coordinate referrals, follow-up care, and scheduling with physicians and rehabilitation teams
- Communicate clearly with athletes, families, coaches, athletic directors, and physicians regarding injury status and return-to-play decisions
- Maintain accurate medical records, injury logs, and required documentation
- Demonstrate proper taping, bracing, and equipment fitting techniques
- Organize and support pre- and post-participation physicals
- Participate in community outreach, sports medicine education, and program development initiatives
- Contribute to onboarding new contracts and tracking program growth metrics
- Provide seasonal coverage for a local semi-professional sports team and support summer camps, EMS education, and community outreach programs
- Explore specialized interests such as ergonomics, strength and conditioning, or orthopedic clinical support during off-seasons
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a health-related field (minimum requirement)
- Current certification from the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers
- New York State Athletic Trainer certification
- CPR certification within 90 days of hire
Preferred qualifications
- 1–2 years of athletic training experience preferred
- New graduates in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training are welcome to apply
