Overview

An established plastics manufacturer serving the automotive industry for over 40 years is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Tool Repair Technician (Mold Maker). This role provides critical tool building and repair support to maintain optimal productivity, quality, and safety, ensuring satisfaction for internal and external customers.

What you'll do

  • Maintain tools in optimal operating condition
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities
  • Perform minor engineering changes
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairing tools
  • Assist Supervisor in training associates in the proper care and use of tools
  • Ensure proper inventory levels of required replacement parts for all tools
  • Follow all prescribed internal tooling procedures
  • Assist Process Engineers, Plant Engineers, and the Tech Center in implementing process improvement changes
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in work area
  • Participate in team problem solving activities (e.g., 8D's, communication meetings)
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of all tool repairs and changes
  • Follow all internal and OSHA required safety procedures
  • Follow all company policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with plastic injection molds
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in mold making/repair
  • Experience operating various machinery equipment, including adept use of an overhead crane
  • Ability to read tooling prints, hydraulic and electrical circuit prints and diagrams
  • Technical training and/or experience on Mill Grinding
  • Must have own toolbox and an assortment of mold making and repair tools
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, talk, or hear
  • Ability to frequently drive a forklift truck
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 45 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities including ability to adjust focus
