Overview
An expanding, family-oriented food manufacturer with a clean, highly organized processing facility and strong employee retention is seeking a 2nd Shift Packaging & Production Supervisor. This direct-hire, people-first leadership role oversees daily line operations, drives efficiency, and mentors a diverse production workforce during off-shift hours.
What you'll do
- Direct, mentor, and motivate an off-shift production crew, managing daily line assignments and optimizing headcount for efficiency
- Coordinate raw ingredient delivery and resource allocation to streamline material flow and achieve daily throughput targets
- Uphold stringent food safety protocols and regulatory benchmarks, maintaining 100% compliance with GMP, HACCP, and SQF guidelines
- Initiate tactical lean manufacturing projects to eliminate line bottlenecks and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Act as the primary liaison between 1st and 2nd shift teams to ensure seamless communication and zero lost productivity
- Handle labor tracking logs, performance reviews, conflict resolution, and daily production metric reporting
Required qualifications
- 3+ years of leadership experience supervising production lines, blending operations, or packaging teams in a regulated environment
- Solid working knowledge of food safety standards, GMP compliance, and quality operations
- Collaborative communication style with a proven track record of mentoring teams, de-escalating floor friction, and building positive culture
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) or localized ERP systems for scheduling and performance tracking
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency (Green Card) required; residence within a dependable 45-minute daily commute of the Greater Jefferson, WI area
Preferred qualifications
- Prior experience managing workflows and leading production teams within a unionized plant
- Official HACCP or SQF practitioner certification
- Hands-on experience applying 5S, Kaizen, or Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on automated packaging lines
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary of $65,000 - $75,000/yr
- Time-and-a-half Saturday overtime premiums
- Annual performance-based bonuses
