Warehouse Manager – Chemical HAZMAT

Location: Lima, OH | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, first shift only | Compensation: Salary dependent on years of experience plus 10% bonus potential

Overview

An established, privately held logistics company with a present owner and a stable, multi-industry customer base is seeking a Warehouse Manager to lead a first-shift warehouse operation. This role oversees both direct and indirect reports and plays a key part in ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient handling of chemical and HAZMAT materials as the company continues to grow organically and through acquisitions.

What you'll do

  • Manage daily operations and overall conditions of assigned warehouses to meet company performance goals and customer expectations
  • Develop and implement hazardous materials management programs, safety protocols, and health programs (such as Spills Response and Chemical Hygiene) to meet legal requirements
  • Monitor cost controls to achieve financial targets, manage labor utilization to minimize costs, and prepare capital expenditure proposals for facility or equipment upgrades
  • Maintain and audit Quality Management Systems (QMS) to ISO standards while driving continuous improvement across warehouse functions
  • Conduct performance appraisals, develop succession plans, and provide leadership to foster a stable work environment and reduce turnover
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer issues and support business development initiatives, including contract negotiations and customer visits
  • Oversee maintenance of facilities and equipment, identifying when assets are obsolete or need remodeling
  • Report to the VP of Operations and oversee a team of up to 15 people, spending up to 50% of time on the warehouse floor

Required qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2-5 years of similar warehouse management experience
  • Experience warehousing chemical and HAZMAT-related materials
  • Supervision experience in non-union work environments
  • Experience working with an ERP or WMS system
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Must be local to Lima, OH (no relocation package offered)

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience overseeing direct and indirect reports
  • Knowledge of QMS systems, specifically ISO, would be ideal
  • Sara reporting experience
  • Strong safety and quality background
  • Budget or P&L management experience
  • 3PL experience
