Overview
An established and growing structural design and engineering firm is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer/Designer to join its team. This role is central to leading structural design efforts across a wide range of project types while mentoring junior staff and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
What you'll do
- Design structural systems for a variety of project types, including manufacturing, distribution, data center, commercial, self-storage, churches, historical, public sector, retail, adaptive reuse, and renovations, as well as existing facility analysis
- Interact with clients and attend client, architect, and contractor meetings
- Review structural documentation and manage/supervise/mentor junior staff
- Prepare design calculations and manage the preparation of construction documents
- Review shop drawings and submittals, perform site reviews, and prepare RFI responses
- Coordinate information across all disciplines to ensure deliverables meet client expectations and company quality standards
- Manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines in a fast-paced team environment
Required qualifications
- 8 plus years’ minimum experience in structural engineering
- Experience with wood, steel, load-bearing light gage steel, concrete, post-tensioned concrete, and masonry design in low to mid-rise structures
- Shallow and deep foundation system design experience
- Professional license required
- Seismic experience required
- Ability to identify applicable codes in project-specific jurisdictions and apply them to the project
- Experience with industry standard software, including but not limited to Microsoft products, Bentley (RAM) products, RISA, EnerCalc, and Adapt
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Project management experience/ability
- Demonstrated team leadership ability
- Self-starter mindset with a willingness to listen, learn, and improve
Preferred qualifications
- Working knowledge of Revit is preferred
