Overview

An established organization with a strong regional presence and a mission-driven culture is seeking a Public Relations Manager to shape and tell its story to the public. This role builds relationships with key organizations and sponsored partners, develops national content and communications strategies, and works closely with the marketing team to ensure all messaging aligns with the organization's mission and goals.

What you'll do

  • Lead efforts to enhance the brand via external channels that illustrate the organization's culture, mission, and story
  • Build and nurture authentic relationships with supported organizations
  • Develop a national content strategy maximizing brand sponsorships, nonprofit contributions, and product donations
  • Work with sponsors and organizations to create content calendars with clear objectives and accountability
  • Seek out additional sponsor and partnership opportunities, establishing objectives, budgets, and schedules
  • Prepare purpose-driven communications to key stakeholders sharing the mission, vision, and goals
  • Write and provide feedback on press releases, talking points, and other public communications, ensuring consistency with the organization's mission
  • Coordinate local media relations for activities, programs, and corporate events
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local media to position the organization as an industry leader and good corporate citizen
  • Monitor and analyze media metrics to measure engagement and campaign success, and make data-driven recommendations
  • Collaborate with regional teams to align and execute media relations and communications efforts
  • Partner with HR, leadership, sales, and other departments on strategic communication planning for recruiting initiatives
  • Monitor legislation, emerging issues, and industry trends impacting the organization's license to operate; assist with communications on public policy matters at federal, state, and local levels
  • Lead crisis communications response as part of a team
  • Refine the crisis communication plan to ensure organizational readiness
  • Communicate effectively with corporate affairs team members and other departments
  • Assist with special, high-visibility projects as requested
  • Create works including text, literary works, musical works/sound recordings, pictorial/graphic works, photography, video, and audiovisual works
  • Assist with community and national events as necessary
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed to meet organizational objectives

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communication or public relations
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in public affairs, communication, and/or PR marketing
  • Ability to develop strong, authentic relationships with external and internal stakeholders aligned to the organization's mission
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to form and maintain professional working relationships with a diverse group of individuals
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to organize and manage projects in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, visible, deadline-oriented environment
  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize quickly
  • Ability to multi-task and produce quality materials under strict deadlines
  • Experience with federal, state and local legislation
  • Understanding of media and ability to develop and place media stories, releases, op-eds, and other corporate communications
  • Excellent and efficient working knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Adobe programs

Preferred qualifications

  • Specific experience in corporate communications planning and reputation management is a plus
